It’s been labeled the Wild West of our times. The Marketplace of the future. The Information Super Highway. It’s the Internet. Hyped beyond anything else I can remember.

Do all of those labels fit the Internet?

The Wild West of our times? Maybe because of the presumed lawlessness of the Internet. The anything goes attitude. This is the label that should disappear the soonest. Why?

Recently the Feds began cracking down on some MLM’s and others making wild unsupported get rich quick claims. Just as in the Old West the Marshall is coming to town and the unlawful behaviors will eventually disappear. The prevalent attitude of "if somebody published it I can take it for free" will become less prevalent as companies, publishers, and individuals enforce their rights.

We also believe the Internet will become the Marketplace of the Future. As I’ve expressed in other articles the Internet is an evolution of the way we communicate. Because it is based on centuries of communication evolution I do not believe it is fad. Over time it probably evolve into something different but for now it’s here to stay and will only become more of a global marketplace.

The Information Super Highway? Pretty soon.

Over Hyped? Most definitely. If you want to make money on the Internet it requires as much work as the real world. But with an ever expanding global market the potential can be enormous.
